How to make Asian peanut sauce using old peanut butter jars

Tired of wasting food? We totally get it, and thanks to TikTok, we now know exactly how to repurpose our peanut butter jars… by making a quick Asian peanut sauce!

Nobody likes to waste food. With all the cooking I do in my home, I try to keep as many leftovers as possible to recycle for other uses. So when another creative idea for using up every other citrus peel, stale piece of bread, or vegetable stalk pops up, it’s hard to resist not trying it.

One of the most recent hacks we’ve seen was from TikTok creator Carleigh Bodrug @employee account. While her account offers up just about every idea you could ever need for recycling food you might have to throw away, it was her peanut butter bowl hack that got a lot of people hooked. Without further ado, let’s make the Asian peanut sauce that went viral.

How to Make Asian Peanut Butter Sauce with Empty Peanut Butter Jars

You know the feeling of taking the last bit of peanut butter out of the jar and having to watch the rest of the unusable parts go to the trash? Well, it’s time to turn those chops into a creamy sauce.

ingredients

  • Peanut butter, whatever’s left in the jar
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of maple syrup
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Sriracha
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • The juice of a whole lemon

Feel free to play with the proportions depending on how much peanut butter is left in the jar. Add a little sriracha to heat up or maybe less soy sauce to reduce the salt. Whatever suits your taste is right for you.

In the video, Carleigh uses it on her favorite peanut pasta salad that’s packed with tons of veggies. Thai noodles are another good option that doesn’t contain meat. If you’re a meat lover, add it to this chicken in coconut and peanut sauce or stir-fry beef.
